Armed with new confidence, she lands a job as an assistant to the temperamental Diana and teams up with her new co-worker and 20-something Kelsey to make it in the career of her dreams. Now she just has to make sure no one discovers her secret.
Reception
The character and its portrayer, Sutton Foster, was generally well-received by the public and critics, who highlighted the Foster's ability to have 40 years and be able to portray a character years younger. David Sims, writing for The Atlantic, said that Foster "could probably play an 18-year-old or an 80-year-old without too much trouble. She sells Liza's internal strife over aging out of the workforce much better than she sells the lame social-media jokes."[2] Regarding the character and Hilary Duff's portray Kelsey Peters, Ryan Anielski of Indiewiere said that both of the actresses transmitted "positive view of women and age."[3]
