The following is a list of world sports championships, including some sporting events which use a different name with a similar meaning. In some sports, there is a world series, but that term usually has a somewhat different meaning.

Tournaments which are formally defunct or where a further event is not currently planned are marked with a gray background.

Team time trial 1962 United States BMC Racing Team (2015)[2] The men's team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships was first held from 1962 to 1994. From 1962 to 1971, the TTT was held annually. After that time, it was held annually except in Olympic years. After the 1994 Worlds, the TTT was removed from the program, and not reinstated until 2012. Note: Since the revival of the World Championships team time trial for men in 2012, and the introduction of the corresponding women's event in the same year, both of these events are now contested by trade teams.
