USS Wateree | United States | While in port at Arica (then part of Peru) an earthquake struck the city subjecting Wateree and other ships in the harbour to several tsunamis. The last tsunami broke the side-wheeler gunboat's anchor chains and drove her ashore almost 500 yards (457 metres) inland from the normal high-water mark.[7] |

Pace | Austrian Empire | The ship was wrecked in Bideford Bay with the loss of two of her fourteen crew. Survivors were rescued by Hope ( Royal National Lifeboat Institution). Pace was on a voyage from Glasgow, Renfrewshire, United Kingdom to Fiume.[1] |
