List of films banned in Malaysia
This is a list of films banned (Rejected) in Malaysia. Films that are assigned the "Tidak Diluluskan Untuk Tayangan" category by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia are banned for sale, possession, distribution and screening. Screening Rejected films, possessing, selling, or even owning them in private is forbidden and strictly enforced and can be punished with severe fines, up to 5 years imprisonment or both.

- 1991: Showdown in Little Tokyo[1]
- 1993: Schindler's List - never released in cinemas; passed in 2004 for DVD release by Berjaya HVN[1]
- 1994: The Shawshank Redemption - passed in 2001 for VHS and DVD release by Berjaya HVN[1]
- 1994: Pulp Fiction - banned due to high-impact horror violence and heavy nudity and sex scenes.[1]
- 1995: Babe and 1998: Babe: Pig in the City - banned due to its title and subject matter not being halal. Released direct-to-VHS when the ruling was overturned almost a year later.[3]
- 1995: Piranha (1995 film) - banned due to high-impact violence and cruelty. However, the original 1978 film the same name is allowed.[1]

- 1995: Bombay - banned due to racial tensions between people India's two main religions Hinduism and Islam
- 1996−present: All of the entries in the British horror drama Silent Witness have been banned.[1]
- 1996: Beavis & Butthead Do America - banned due to strong sexual content.[1]
- 1996: Last Man Standing[1]
- 1997−2013: South Park - banned along with the film,[1] however, now, it is available on Comedy Central Asia on HyppTV.[6]

- 1997: Welcome To Woop Woop
- 1997: Blade - never released in cinemas, passed for a VCD release and a delayed DVD release by Movie Master.[1]
- 1998: The Prince of Egypt - never released in cinemas because the censor body ruled that the film is "insensitive for religious and moral reasons".[8] The film was passed for VCD and DVD release by Berjaya HVN
- 1998: Saving Private Ryan - never released in cinemas, passed for VCD and DVD release by Berjaya HVN[1]
- 1998 and 2004: Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky - banned due to very high-impact violence and cruelty[1]
- 1999–2011: Family Guy, now available on Fox Channel Asia
- 1999: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me - never released in cinemas, but passed for a VCD release and delayed DVD release by Sunny Film Productions.[1]
- 1999: South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut - banned due to "vulgar, offensive content" (the television series was banned for the same reason, but now the TV series is available on HyppTV ).[1]
- 1999: Eyes Wide Shut - banned due to its strong sexual content.
- 1999: Dogma[1] - banned for offensive religious content

- 2000−present: All of the entries in the Final Destination have been banned.[1]

- 2000: Baise-Moi - banned due to grotesque, abhorrent content (rape, explicit sexual content, high impact violence, cruelty, etc.)[1]
- 2001: Fiza[1]
- 2001: Ichi the Killer - banned due to very high impact violence and offensive depictions of cruelty.[1]
- 2001: Zoolander[9] - banned for an offensive joke about the country in the film.
- 2001: Blow - banned due to explicit drug use as the country's laws about drugs are very strict and also some sexual content.
- 2002: Auto Focus - passed for VCD release from MediaMax.com[1]

- 2004: Crash - banned from showing in the nation's cinemas due to racial themes, but however, the movie that came out on DVD is rated U.
- 2004: The Girl Next Door
- 2004: The Passion of the Christ - the film's viewing was restricted solely to the Christian residents of the country.[1]

- 2004-2008: Supernanny UK - banned due to the disgusting behaviour shown in the UK version.

- 2005: Hostel - banned due to very high impact violence and offensive depictions of cruelty.[1]
- 2005: Rent - was released straight to DVD/VCD by Mediamax.com[1]
- 2005: Brokeback Mountain - banned for its "favorable" depiction of homosexuality[1]

- 2007: I Don't Want to Sleep Alone - banned based on 18 counts of incidents shown in the film depicting the country "in a bad light" for cultural, ethical, and racial reasons. However, they later allowed the film to be screened in the country after Tsai agreed to censor parts of the film according to the requirements of the Censorship Board.[11]

- 2008: Anaconda 3: Offspring - banned due to very high-impact violence and cruelty.[1] However the big screen versions to the series, Anaconda (1997) and Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004) are allowed.

- 2011: No Strings Attached - passed in a heavily censored version (seven minutes censored) in 2011, due to sexual and nude content[1]
- 2011−present: Home and Away - banned due to very high-impact violence and cruelty, but the soap opera's earliest years will only continue to air.
- 2011: Friends with Benefits - banned due to its sexual content[1]

- 2011: The Human Centipede 2 - Banned due to highly explicit sexual violence, graphic forced defecation, and potential obscenity.
- 2012: A Serbian Film - banned due to extremely high impact violence and offensive depictions of cruelty, paedophilia, child sexual abuse, and other themes that are "outrageous and abhorrent"[1]

- 2013: Kampung baru(新村)- banned due of strong element of communism, war crimes, extremely high impact violence, paedophilia and secret history
- 2012: Ted - banned because it was made by the creators of Family Guy, which itself was banned from 1999-2011.

- 2012: Magic Mike
- 2013: Texas Chainsaw 3D - banned due to high impact violence
- 2013: V/H/S/2
- 2013: Vishwaroopam[13] - shown in local cinemas on 24 January 2013, but the approval was withdrawn the next day, in accordance with a directive from the Home Ministry following concerns from the public that the film portrays Islam in a negative light. Malaysian authorities lifted the ban on 19 February 2014 however, after several scenes were cut.

- 2014: Banglasia (猛加拉杀手)[15] - the film was heavily criticised by the LPF (Film Censorship Board) and KDN (Home Ministry department), which received 31 official notes and orders to re-shoot the movie.
- 2014: Noah - banned due to religious content[1]
- 2014: The Raid 2: Berandal[1]
- 2014: Son of God - banned due to the Christian theme.
- 2014: Sex Tape - banned due to strong sexual content
- 2014: The Green Inferno - banned due to high impact violence and torture, but was released in 24th September 2015 rated 18.
