Location of major Dams in Pakistan

According to the International Commission on Large Dams, total dams and reservoirs in Pakistan over the height of 15 m (49 ft) are 150.[1] Tarbela Dam is the largest earth filled dam in the world and is second largest by the structural volume.[2][3] Mirani Dam is the largest dam in the world in terms of volume for flood protection with a floodstock of 588,690 cubic hectometer [4] while Sabakzai Dam is 7th largest with a floodstock of 23,638 cubic hectometer.[4]

Operation Large dams

According to ICOLD, dams with height above the foundation greater than 15 metres (49 ft) are known as large dams.[5][6] The complete list of large dams in Pakistan is provided below.[7]
