List of best-selling albums in Taiwan
This is a list of best-selling albums in Taiwan. Music recording sales certification is by Recording Industry Foundation in Taiwan (RIT) (formerly IFPI Taiwan). On 1 November 2008, IFPI Taiwan was renamed to Recording Industry Foundation in Taiwan (RIT).[1]
In March 2002, the certification level was changed to unit sales. Prior to that Gold was awarded when an album has shipped 100,000 and platinum 200,000 copies. From this period, seven domestic albums and one international album have shipped over a million copies. Of these Jacky Cheung is the best-selling artist, with three albums over the 1 million mark, while A-mei, is the best-selling female artist. During this period, Taiwan is Asia's second largest music market, after Japan.
On 13 December 2010, RIT certified Rashomon by Taiwanese artist Show Lo for sales of 154,218 copies in Taiwan, for audit period of 15 January to 30 September 2010, thus a certification of five platinums.[2]
