List of goldfish varieties

Goldfish

This is the list of common varieties of goldfish and their characteristics. There are more 200 breeds of goldfish in China but in this article will show you some common and main mutations of goldfish. These are the original mutations or mutations that are not crossbreed with other original mutations.

Single-tailed varieties

They have a single caudal fin and anal fin. They have longer streamlined bodies and more faster swimming than shorter egg-shaped goldfishes. They are all come from common goldfish except itself but rare egg-shaped varieties like nymph goldfish are developed from egg-shaped goldfish. They have no telescopic eyes, celestial eyes, nor bubble, eyes. They have no headgrowths like orandas, lionheads, and ranchus, narial boquets like pompoms, and curled gills like curled-gill.

Streamlined bodied

As you can see there are no shubunkin goldfish in this article because shubunkins are only calico colored, have no color and pattern except for calico. Colors of goldfish are not limited to some varieties but all of the varieties of goldfish have colors the same as common goldfish which they all developed.

Egg-shaped bodied

Double-tailed varieties

Double-tailed or fancy goldfish. Fancy, in goldfish, meaning they have double caudal fins and anal fins. Is the most popular and the most expensive types of goldfish. There are two types of fancy goldfish:

Streamlined bodied

Egg-shaped bodied

Egg-shaped goldfish are most popular types of goldfish, they have two types:

Dorsal finned varieties

Orange-white Ryukin goldfish

Dorsal finless varieties

Bubble eye goldfish

How To Make a Goldfish Aquarium

You need to know how to cycle your aquarium. Like you feed your goldfish, then your goldfish poops, then the poop and the uneaten food will decompose and produce ammonia (NH3). The ammonia (NH3) is being converted into nitrite (NO2) by a bacteria called Nitrosomonas. The nitrite (NO2) is being converted into nitrate (NO3) by a bacteria called Nitrobacter. In return, plants produce oxygen, when they photosynthesize (only in daytime), they take carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) and combine them using light energy to produce sugars and oxygen. This stores the energy in chemical bonds in the sugars and releases oxygen (O2). The plants use those sugars (like we do when we consume foods) for energy to photosynthesize again. Plants make sugars by oxidizing them with oxygen (O2), just like us to release the energy stored in the bonds. They release carbon dioxide (CO2) just like us, when we breathe. But, when plants are photosynthesizing, they release more oxygen (O2) during photosynthesis than they will consume in respiration. They release the oxygen through the same pores that allow the carbon dioxide (CO2) to enter their leaf cells. So we're making a natural aquarium. What is natural aquarium? Natural aquarium means no electricity needed just only a balanced ecosystem.
