List of "Lapis Lazuli Loves Peridot"characters
Steven Universe is an American animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar. It is produced by Cartoon Network Studios, and is the first show by the studio to be created by a woman.[1]
Main Characters
Steven Universe
(Voiced by Zach Callison)[2] –The titular protagonist of the series and the enthusiastic youngest and only male member of the Crystal Gems who is loosely based on the series creator's younger brother Steven Sugar, a background artist.[3] Currently 14 years old (as of "The Answer"),[4] he is the son of Greg Universe, a former musician, and Rose Quartz, the former leader of the Crystal Gems. Rose gave up her physical form so that Steven would be born as the first Gem-human hybrid entity and bridge the divide between humans and Gems. His gemstone, which is embedded in his belly button, is the rose quartz he inherited from his mother, which he can use to summon her shield and form a protective bubble around himself and his loved ones, while being sometimes capable of using healing powers in his saliva as well. Like Rose, Steven is caring, protective, gentle, and quick to forgive others. It is unknown if Steven can fuse with Gems, but so far, unlike Gems, he can fuse with humans; in "Alone Together" and "We Need to Talk", he fused with his friend Connie to form Stevonnie. He is musically inclined, as he loves singing and occasionally playing his ukulele. He is also motivated, meaning he's ready to go on any mission and can motivate his loved ones when they are in trouble. Steven can feel down-hearted sometimes, but he still tries very hard to protect his loved ones from any danger as possible.
Garnet
(Voiced by Estelle) — The disciplined current leader of the Crystal Gems (in Rose Quartz's absence). She is the strongest of the Crystal Gems who is silent at times yet often affectionate to her teammates. The episode "Jail Break" reveals that Garnet, having three differently colored eyes which she wears a visor over, is a fusion formed by the two Gems Ruby and Sapphire. Garnet would later reveal to Steven in "The Answer" that Sapphire and Ruby accidentally fused into her while facing Rose and Pearl during a mission on Earth, and was the first fusion of two different gems; this was unacceptable in Blue Diamond's eyes, so Sapphire saved Ruby's life by fleeing with her to Earth's surface, where they fell in love with each other and again formed Garnet. She was later found by Rose, who took the fusion in, accepting her for who she is. Unlike other fusions, Garnet can maintain her form indefinitely due to her components' love for each other with her personality being a balanced composite of their conflicting personalities.[5] Because she is a fusion, Garnet has two red garnets, one embedded in each of her hands; she can use them to summon a pair of gauntlets, which are formed out of Ruby and Sapphire's weapons, and also uses Sapphire's ability to see possible future outcomes with her third eye. Garnet loves Steven dearly, and she accepts his ideas.
Amethyst
(Voiced by Michaela Dietz)[2] – The impassionate second-to-youngest member of the Crystal Gems. She has a purple amethyst embedded on her chest, which she can use to summon an energy whip or two. Unlike the other Crystal Gems, Amethyst was created on Earth as part of the Gem Homeworld's Kindergarten project to convert natural resources into a Gem-occupied world. While a quartz, a Gem warrior caste that are physically strong and use a "spin attack" on opponents, Amethyst was not fully developed in size, as revealed in "Too Far". Though taken in by Rose Quartz when found, Amethyst possesses a rebellious and childlike personality (which allows her to get along with Steven) and a bit of a self-image crisis that played in her using her kind's shapeshifting ability more often than the other Crystal Gems.
Pearl
(Voiced by Deedee Magno)[2] – The precise and intellectual member of the Crystal Gems who is a bit of short-tempered perfectionist and often tries to act as a strategist for her teammates. Her gemstone, which is embedded in her forehead, is a rainbow pearl that she can use to summon a spear and create holographic images. As revealed in "Back to the Barn", Pearl's name is actually a term for a caste of Gems on Homeworld who function only as menial servants, but Pearl, being a ward of Rose Quartz and the first of her known followers, rejected her caste role and trained herself to be a capable fighter and technician. However, during most the series, she is revealed to have romantic feelings for Rose, which she tends to instinctively project as a smothering parent with Steven. Pearl suffered insecurities over who she is without Rose before gradually becoming able to stand on her own two feet. Pearl really cares about Steven and can be overprotective of him, willing to protect him at any cost, because she thinks he is the most important member of the Crystal Gems. [6]
Peridot
(Voiced by Shelby Rabara)[7] – A former Homeworld Gem with a cranky, business-like demeanor. Her full name is Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG, and she has a triangular green peridot embedded on her forehead. As a Peridot-type Gem, her body was outfitted with limb enhancers to appear taller and defend herself. In "Warp Tour", the Crystal Gems see Peridot for the first time when she is sent to Earth to observe the status of the Cluster, a giant forced fusion forming in the center of the planet, and after she discovers their existence in "Marble Madness", she travels to Earth with her escort Jasper and Lapis Lazuli in "The Return" via a hand-shaped spacecraft. However, it results with her being marooned on Earth after she escapes through a pod as her ship is about to crash-land onto Earth in "Jail Break". Peridot makes attempts to contact her leader, Yellow Diamond, while trying to keep a safe distance from the Crystal Gems. The Crystal Gems eventually capture Peridot in "Catch and Release" by sending her into her gemstone, which is bubbled and placed in the temple, but she is later released by Steven so she can tell him about the Cluster. Then, in "Back To the Barn", she forms an alliance with the Crystal Gems so they can defeat the Cluster. While she still sees herself as a Homeworld Gem, Peridot ends up becoming an official member of the Crystal Gems in "Message Received", when she openly defied Yellow Diamond's order to keep the Cluster active.
Citizens of Beach City
- Greg Universe (voiced by Tom Scharpling[8]) – Steven's father who formed a romantic relationship with Rose Quartz. Formerly a rock musician with a short-lived music career (which he abandoned to stay in Beach City with Rose), Greg currently lives in his van and runs a car wash. Although Steven moved in with the Gems to learn more about his Gem heritage and how to utilize his powers in a safe environment to help them protect the world, Greg remains actively involved in Steven's life. Greg is always supportive and caring to Steven, sometimes telling him stories that involve his relationship with Rose (which he did so far in "Story for Steven" and "We Need to Talk"). Greg's typically seen wearing a low-collar tank top despite having a sunburn pattern from a high-collar tee-shirt. He also has a fair amount of technical skill with audio equipment (as shown in "The Message").
- Connie Maheswaran (voiced by Grace Rolek[8])[9] – A girl who first appeared in "Bubble Buddies", where Steven met and later became friends with her. She is usually seen with a book in hand and appears to be intelligent yet introverted and lonely. Connie is Steven's best friend (and romantic intreast), but although this is true, she moves frequently, so she is unable to build lasting friendships. She wore glasses to see at the beginning of her appearances, but as of "An Indirect Kiss", she no longer needs them after she made Steven's saliva heal her eyes, but wears them without lenses so her parents don't get mad. She likes going on adventures with Steven and the Gems; she also plays tennis and the violin, and learns how to sword fight from Pearl in Sworn to the Sword. Connie's parents are very strict; they don't allow her to participate in any childhood activities, like eating anything that has trans-fat, buying snacks at the movie theater, or eating donuts. Connie was afraid to tell her parents that she's been doing magic stuff with Steven because she thinks that her parents would forbid her to hang out with him, but in "Nightmare Hospital", she finally reveals this to her mother.
- Lars (voiced by Matthew Moy) – A teenage worker at the Big Donut, Beach City's local donut shop. He often picked on Steven, but has become friendlier towards him in later episodes. He admires Jenny Pizza, Sour Cream and Buck Dewey, three teens in Beach City who are considered as the "cool kids", and his attitude stems from his own insecurity and loneliness, rather than deliberate cruelty. He has stretched earlobes, called gauges. In "Island Adventure", Lars mentions that he gets lonely even when he is around other people, leaving speculation that he may not have any real friends besides Sadie, or that he is depressed. He then kisses her, and as of this episode, it's implied he has a crush on her. In episodes such as "Joking Victim", he leaves all of the messes for Sadie to pick up, but in following episodes, he seems to do his share of the work more often. It is revealed in "Horror Club" that Lars was friends with Ronaldo as a child before his anxieties caused a misunderstanding and ultimately a falling out between the both of them. Moy has stated that this is one of his favorite acting roles so far, and has described his character as a 'complicated fellow'.[10]
- Sadie Miller (voiced by Kate Micucci) – A clerk at the Big Donut, who shares the same shift as Lars. Unlike Lars, she is generally friendly towards Steven and supportive of his adventures. Her favorite food is oyster crackers, and she likes to watch "Canine Court". In "Joking Victim", it is implied that she has feelings for Lars, and as of "Island Adventure", he seems to reciprocate; he kisses her, and she appears to have a crush on him. Just like Lars, Sadie has admitted that she had no other friends and can't seem to make them, even joking about it on occasion. She is also the first known human to take down a Gem monster single-handed, using a fishing spear (as of "Island Adventure"). In "Sadie's Song", Steven discovers that Sadie loves to sing, signing her up for Beach-a-Palooza, an annual entertainment event in Beach City.
Pizza family
- The Pizza twins (Jennifer "Jenny" and Kiki Pizza) (both voiced by Reagan Gomez-Preston) – Twin sisters who work at their family's restaurant, Fish Stew Pizza, where Jenny drives around in the pizza delivery car. Jenny has a very cool laid-back personality and likes hanging out with her friends Sour Cream, Buck, and occasionally Lars and Steven, while Kiki is a hard worker. Jenny's character design and personality bears a resemblance to that of Amethyst's, while Kiki's personality resembles Pearl's.
- Kofi Pizza (voiced by Godfrey C. Danchimah) – Jenny and Kiki's father, and an immigrant from Ghana (although his daughters were born in Beach City).[11] He is the owner of Fish Stew Pizza. Though he fully recognizes magic, he usually doesn't understand it clearly, often questioning the Gems in their strange ways. In "Beach Party", he severely disliked their reckless behavior despite their good intentions, but after his family was saved during the events of the cookout in the episode, he now appreciates their presence.
- Nanefua Pizza (voiced by Toks Olagundoye) – Kofi's elderly mother and the Pizza Twins' grandmother who (unlike her son) is laid back and carefree. She is a very playful old woman who enjoys joking around and is concerned with keeping harmony in her family and defusing stressful situations. She works alongside the rest of her family at Fish Stew Pizza cutting fish. Steven Universe animator/director Ian Jones-Quartey based Nanefua on his grandmother, noted Ghanaian stateswoman Theodosia Okoh.[12]
Cream family
- Sour Cream (voiced by Brian Posehn) – An aspiring electronic musician and DJ with a very easygoing and honest personality. He hangs out with his friends Jenny and Buck, and Lars and Steven as well (on occasions). His character design bears a resemblance to that of Pearl's.
- Onion Cream (voiced by Zach Callison) – Steven's chubby friend and Sour Cream's younger half-brother, characterized by an onion-shaped head and lack of ears. He seems to lack any understandable moral code and frequently performs acts of selfishness and violence. Steven has speculated that this is because he misses his father (who apart from his mother Vidalia is the only person whom he chooses to speak to), who is often absent at sea. When Steven (along with Amythest) went to Onion's house in "Onion Friend", Onion interacted with Steven when he visited Onion's room (some actions included offering a mouse to feed to his pet snake and showing a videotape of his own birth), but he gave Steven a rare collectible toy at the end of the episode, indicating that he does recognize friendship when it is offered.
- Yellowtail (voiced by Tom Scharpling) – Onion's father and Sour Cream's stepfather (as established in the episode "Joy Ride") who works as a fisherman and is at sea for long stretches. He is first seen in the episode "Onion Trade", when he came back from a trip and talked to Onion in an indecipherable language.
- Vidalia Cream (voiced by Jackie Buscarino) – Sour Cream and Onion's mother (as shown in "Onion Friend"). She was the supposed musical partner for Greg's tour in "Story for Steven" and apparently lived a wild life before settling down and getting remarried to Yellowtail; she now seems to be mostly content as a mother and housewife. Vidalia and Amethyst are old friends; in the past, the Gem served as a model for Vidalia's paintings, and they drifted apart over time, but reconnected in "Onion Friend". Vidalia has turned her house's garage into a makeshift art studio and seems to have a loose parenting style with her two sons.
- Marty (voiced by Jon Wurster) – Greg's former manager and Vidalia's ex (it is implied that Marty is Sour Cream's biological father) who appeared in the episode "Story for Steven".
Fryman family
- Mr. Fryman (voiced by Billy Merritt) – The owner of Beach City Fries. He often gives fry bits upon Steven's request.
- Peedee Fryman (voiced by Atticus Shaffer) – The younger son of Mr. Fryman, and Steven's age friend. He is very world-weary and business-centered, but he does enjoy having fun and loves his older brother.
- Ronaldo Fryman (voiced by Zach Steel) – The older son of Mr. Fryman. He is good-natured, but highly gullible and obsessed with the paranormal and conspiracy theories. He runs a blog called "Keep Beach City Weird", which inspects the weird happenings in Beach City (from the Gems). In "Horror Club", it is revealed that Ronaldo was childhood friends with Lars before the latter's social anxieties caused a misunderstanding and ultimately a falling out between the two.
Dewey family
- Mayor William "Bill" Dewey (voiced by Joel Hodgson) – The mayor of Beach City who travels the town by riding his campaign van on the sidewalks of Beach City. He is very interested in campaigning and maintaining his mayoral status, though there does not seem to be any other candidates to compete against. He has an unrequited crush on Pearl, calling her "the hot one"; this is shown first in "Political Power" when he meets her and blushes at her while Steven says that he and the Gems would help with the episode's problem; he looked at her and is shocked that she would go with him, but Garnet won't. The behavior shows again in "Historical Friction", when he sat down next to Pearl and tried to engage her in conversation, but she nervously moved to a seat far away from him; his attempts at conversation were very self-congratulatory.
- Buck Dewey – (voiced by storyboarder Lamar Abrams) - Mayor Dewey's son, who has a laid-back personality, dislikes "nasty stuff" (shown in "Shirt Club" when he only ate a cheese pepperoni pizza), and likes to hang out with Jenny, Sour Cream, and on occasion Lars and Steven. His relationship with his father is slightly strained, which seems to be due to personality differences and Buck's occasional embarrassment over his father's uncoolness, but they genuinely care for each other (as show in the episode "Shirt Club"). His character design bears a resemblance to that of Garnet's because of his sunglasses, which look like Garnet's visor.
Maheswaran Family
- Dr. Priyanka[13] Maheswaran (voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) – Connie's mother who made an appearance in the episodes "Fusion Cuisine", "Winter Forecast" and "Nightmare Hospital". She is a medical doctor and a strict, but loving parent. In "Nightmare Hospital", after Connie tells her mother the truth about what she does with Steven, their relationship became stronger than ever.[8]
- Doug[14] Maheswaran (voiced by Crispin Freeman) – Connie's father who also made an appearance in the episodes "Fusion Cuisine" and "Winter Forecast". He works as a security guard and is a terrible driver in snowy conditions. Like his wife, he is also a strict, but loving parent.[8]
Other townspeople
- Jamie (voiced by Eugene Cordero) – A postman and aspiring actor who delivers the mail to Steven at the temple, as he is the only one who knows the way there. He falls in love with Garnet in "Love Letters", but is rebuffed and soon ultimately accepts her rejection. Later, in "Historical Friction", Jamie directs a play about the founding of Beach City.
- Barb Miller (voiced by Kate Flannery) – Sadie's mother who works as a senior postal carrier in Beach City and is Jamie's supervisor. As seen in "Sadie's Song", Barb is something of a "stage mother", latching onto any sport or other activity that Sadie shows even the least amount of interest in and pushing the activity so hard that Sadie loses interest due to the pressure.
- Mr. Harold Smiley (voiced by Sinbad (season 1), Colton Dunn (season 2)) – The owner of Beach City Funland and a former actor, who also acts as master of ceremonies for local events such as Beach City Underground Wrestling ("Tiger Millionaire"), and the talent show at Beach-a-Palooza ("Steven and the Stevens", "Sadie's Song"). In "Joking Victim", a younger Smiley is shown performing in a Big Donut franchise training video which Steven sees.
Other Gems
Crystal Gems
- Rose Quartz (voiced by Susan Egan) – The original leader of the Crystal Gems and Steven's mother whose gem is a rose quartz embedded in her navel. Alongside Pearl, Rose rebelled against the Homeworld Gems to stop them from colonizing Earth at the cost of its native people. As shown in "Story for Steven", Rose soon met and fell in love with Greg when he was a young rock musician, and in "We Need to Talk", their relationship strengthened despite their vast differences, eventually leading up to Steven becoming the result of the relationship. However, for reasons not fully revealed yet, Rose gave up her physical form to give birth to Steven, who inherited her gemstone and some of her abilities. While able to summon the shield Steven now has, Rose also used weapons that include a sword and laser light cannons. Also, her tears had healing powers, which also passed down to Steven, but manifested in his saliva.
- Ruby (voiced by Charlyne Yi) and Sapphire (voiced by Erica Luttrell) – Two Gems who are the smaller, weaker constituents of Garnet, who is a fusion, first appearing in "Jail Break" and later reappearing in "Keystone Motel". As revealed in "The Answer", Sapphire is an aristocratic seeress while Ruby is a foot soldier in Gem society who served as one of Sapphire's ruby bodyguards and escorts to see Blue Diamond. Sapphire predicted to Blue Diamond that the rebellion would end with her disappearence once two rubies and four other Gems are defeated, but Ruby intervened and the two accidentally fused. This not only negates Sapphire's prophecy that Rose Quartz would be captured at that moment, but the fusion itself is a violation of Gem culture. Later, Sapphire saves Ruby from execution by getting themselves safely onto Earth, where they form a romantic bond, which they consummate by staying fused as Garnet, and subsequently joined the Crystal Gems. Ruby's gemstone is a red ruby embedded on her left hand, and Sapphire's gemstone is a blue sapphire embedded on her right hand. Both Gems have thermokinesis: Ruby's powers manifest as heat and fire, and Sapphire's can freeze her surroundings. Also, their personalities contrast; while Ruby gets hot-tempered and irritable often, Sapphire stays relaxed. Ruby uses a metal glove as a weapon, and Sapphire possesses "future vision", both which are passed down to Garnet. Sapphire has a single eye, as first seen in "Keystone Motel", which is covered by her hair.
Homeworld Gems
- Lapis Lazuli (voiced by Jennifer Paz) – A Homeworld Gem with a water drop-shaped blue lapis lazuli gemstone embedded on her back and a blue color scheme who possesses extremely powerful hydrokinesis that functions as her weapon.[15] She was kept trapped for an unknown period of time in a mirror, which was given to Steven in "Mirror Gem", where she managed to communicate with him and befriend him while in the mirror. Upon being freed by Steven near the end of the episode, it is implied that she fought opposite the Crystal Gems in the first Homeworld war, and that the Crystal Gems are the ones who put her in the mirror in the first place, as it is shown that she holds a vendetta against them for keeping her trapped. In "Ocean Gem", homesick Lapis then attempts to use the Earth's oceans to form a giant tower to stretch her to the Homeworld, but Steven later heals her cracked gemstone, allowing her to reform her wings and fly back home through space. Though she and Steven appear to have made peace (she was the one who sent the warning to Steven in "The Message"), the Gems question the implications of her departure. In "The Return", she is forced against her will to lead Jasper to the Crystal Gems, even though peridot didn't want her too acting as their informant, and in "Jail Break", she fuses with Jasper and becomes Malachite in order to imprison her in the ocean at the cost of her own freedom. In "Chille Tid", it is shown that Lapis is constantly trying to remain in control of Malachite in order to keep Jasper imprisoned under the sea.
- Jasper (voiced by Kimberly Brooks) – A tall, muscular Homeworld Gem who was Peridot's escort on their mission to Earth. She was a veteran of the Gem war on Earth, on the Homeworld's side. She has an especially angry and violent personality and is contemptuous of those she considers weak (although she considered Rose Quartz a worthy adversary). Her gemstone is an orange jasper embedded as her nose, and her weapon is a Japanese punk pompadour. She is a powerful physical combatant who can charge at opponents with a "spin attack" in a manner similar to the quartz caste. One other weapon Jasper owns is a "Gem destabilizer", a cattle prod-like gear that immediately disrupts a Gem's physical form on contact, which she uses on Garnet in "The Return" (a similar device owned by Peridot proved ineffective on Steven because of his half-human physiology). At the end of "Jail Break", she fuses with Lapis Lazuli to form the monstrous Malachite in an attempt to exact revenge on the Crystal Gems, but Lapis uses her hydrokinetic abilities while fused to imprison them both at the bottom of the ocean. Jasper made a short reappearance in Steven's last dream in "Chille Tid".
- Yellow Diamond (voiced by Patti LuPone) – A Homeworld Gem who is part of the Diamond Authority, the matriarchs of the Gem Homeworld. She had been mentioned throughout the series until her appearance in "Message Received", when Peridot contacts her via the diamond relic. In the episode, she openly expresses indifference towards Peridot's absence and discoveries regarding her mission, and orders her to ensure the Cluster's emergence. When Peridot attempts to reason about Earth's value, Yellow Diamond dismisses her utterly and orders her to leave the Cluster alone. This drives Peridot to finally defy her ruler, and vehemently call her a "clod", making Yellow Diamond livid with rage (and the Crystal Gems very happy) before Peridot ends the transmission in panic. Before her appearance in the episode, Yellow Diamond made a brief cameo in the short "We Are the Crystal Gems".
- Yellow Pearl (voiced by Deedee Magno) – A Pearl who is Yellow Diamond's receptionist, showing a bad temper while showing satisfaction in other's misfortunes.
- Blue Diamond – Another member of the Diamond Authority who helped lead the occupation of Earth during the war, usually seen with her Blue Pearl ward. In "The Answer", Blue Diamond had a role in Garnet's story, first asking for the vision of Rose Quartz's capture and soon intending to have Ruby executed for both having fused with Sapphire for the first time and unknowingly sabotaging this vision.
- Blue Pearl – A Pearl who serves as Blue Diamond's ward.
Miscellaneous Gems
- Other Rubies (both voiced by Charlyne Yi) – A pair of Ruby-type Gems that appeared in "The Answer" as Sapphire's bodyguards along with Ruby ages ago. One's gem is embedded on her right shoulder, while the other's gem is embedded the back of her right hand. Both seem to be obsessed with fighting. They were defeated by Rose Quartz and Pearl and their fates are currently unknown.
- Lion (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) – Steven's pet gem lion who resides with him and the Gems and the temple. He has a mysterious connection with Rose Quartz; one example showing this is that his mane contains an airless pocket dimension where a number of keepsakes that belonged to Rose, including her sword, are found. Lion also has the ability to create portals with his roars, allowing fast transportation over long distances for himself and anyone riding him.
- Holo-Pearls (voiced by Deedee Magno) – Robot-like, solid holographic versions of Pearl that can be summoned by the Gem. One of the Holo-Pearls is first summoned in "Steven the Sword Fighter", and is later re-summoned in "Sworn to the Sword" before the other Holo-Pearls appear.
Fusions
- Opal (voiced by Aimee Mann) – A powerful fusion formed by Amethyst and Pearl first introduced in "Giant Woman" and reappearing in "The Return" and "Log Date 7 15 2". Pearl stated in "Giant Woman" that she and Amethyst only form Opal for "deadly situations", and due to the fact that the two Gems are at constant odds with each other, it is difficult for them to find the mental and physical harmony necessary to create and sustain the being without a compelling reason (such as a physical threat). Opal appears as a four-armed giant with a mix of the two characters' physical attributes and two rainbow opals embedded in her chest and forehead. Her weapon (formed out of Amethyst's whip and Pearl's spear) is a bow that shoots energy arrows.
- Sugilite (voiced by Nicki Minaj) – Another powerful fusion, formed by Garnet and Amethyst, who first appeared in "Coach Steven", and reappeared later in "Cry for Help". Sugilite's behavior is more unstable than Opal's, as Amethyst and Garnet's personalities when fused together become more unpredictable and violent, but ironically there is a greater danger of her components' identities being lost within her. Sugilite is a four-armed giant, even bigger than Opal, with sugilites embedded in her hands and chest. Her weapon (formed out of Garnet's gauntlets and Amethyst's whip) is a giant flail with a fist-shaped head.
- Sardonyx (voiced by Alexia Khadime)[16] – A third powerful fusion, formed by Garnet and Pearl, who first appears in "Cry for Help" and later returns in "Friend Ship". Like Opal and Sugilite, she is a four-armed giant, possessing the personality of a comical, trick-performing entertainer. She has sardonyxes embedded in her forehead and hands, and her weapon (formed out of Garnet's gauntlets and Pearl's spear) is a war hammer which can also turn into a drill.
- Alexandrite (voiced by Rita Rani Ahuja)[8] – A big fusion formed by Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Alexandrite appears in "Fusion Cuisine", where the three Gems reluctantly agree to fuse together at Steven's request in order to pose as his mother at dinner with the Maheswarans; as with the other fusions, the Gems' conflicting personalities and the lack of an absolutely compelling threat resulted in an unstable fusion. Reflecting her being a fusion of all the Gems, Alexandrite is far larger than Opal, Sugilite and Sardonyx, with pink-red skin, green hair, six arms, and two mouths. She has alexandrites embedded in her forehead, chest, and hands. Alexandrite also appears as a summonable fusion in the video game, Steven Universe: Attack the Light!.
- Stevonnie (voiced by AJ Michalka) – A fusion formed by Steven and Connie, made possible by Steven's half-gem half-human existence, first appearing in the episode "Alone Together". They are taller than both Steven and Connie and have Connie's long hair, so they are usually mistaken for a female teenager by most people, though they are not classified as any gender. Their outfit is a mixture of Steven's usual shirt and jeans and a dress Connie was wearing at the time of the fusion, with the top exposing their stomach to show Steven's gemstone. Stevonnie is the only known instance of a human-gem hybrid fusing with a human, and the Gems were surprised at their existence (except for Garnet, who was very pleased). Stevonnie appeared again in "We Need To Talk", when Steven and Connie danced to one of Greg's songs and unexpectedly fused in front of him, thus leading him to tell the story of when he learned about fusion.
- Malachite – A fusion of Jasper and Lapis Lazuli who first appears in the episode "Jail Break", and reappears in "Chille Tid". She has a six-armed, centauroid form (using four arms to walk around) and four eyes, with malachites embedded as her nose and on her back. Jasper formed the fusion with Lapis in "Jail Break" in the hopes of defeating the Crystal Gems, but Lapis used her hydrokinetic powers to imprison herself and Jasper at the bottom of the ocean; there, she endlessly struggles to remain in control so that Jasper doesn't escape. However, in "Chille Tid", Lapis proclaims, "We are Malachite now.", implying that Malachite is the one in control of herself now.
- Rainbow Quartz – A fusion of Rose Quartz and Pearl that appeared in "We Need To Talk"; with the absence of Rose, her ability to manifest again is uncertain. She was twice as tall as Garnet and had two pairs of eyes, and appeared in aerobic workout gear (leotards, tights, and leg warmers). Her gems were rainbow quartzes embedded on her forehead and navel.
- Triple Ruby (voiced by Charlyne Yi) – The fusion of all three Rubies who appeared in "The Answer". As their individual forms and gemstones are the same, their fusion remains identical except much larger in size. In this form, they are much more powerful. However, the true extent of this remains unclear since they were faced against an already extremely powerful and skilled warrior Gem.
