Many smaller countries, and those with small Roman Catholic populations, lack large umbrella archdioceses and have immediately subject vicariates, dioceses, ordinariates, apostolic exarchates, territorial prelatures, apostolic administrations and apostolic prefectures (all of which may also exist in countries with one or more archdioceses).
