List of Chinese administrative divisions by GDP
First or provincial level Administrative divisions of China by: |
---|
The article lists China's province-level divisions by gross domestic product (GDP). Each province's GDP is listed in both the national currency renminbi (CN¥), and at nominal US dollar values according to annual average exchange rates and according to purchasing power parity (PPP). Historical figures and rankings, including purchasing power parity (PPP) figures, are also given for main years since 1978. Figures for Hong Kong and Macau, which are special administrative regions of the PRC but do not use the same currency, are listed after the main list for comparative purposes.[1]
All the CN¥ figures are from the National Bureau of Statistics of China.[2] Annual PPP rates are taken from the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook databases.[2]
Please note that the average GDP growth rates for all Chinese provinces in each of the years listed exceed the official GDP growth figures for mainland China. For example, the average of all provincial GDP growth figures in 2014 was approximately 8.5%, more than a full percentage point greater than the official growth figure of 7.4%. In 2013, the average provincial GDP growth rate was nearly 10% versus an official GDP growth rate of 7.7%. Please also note that GDP growth figures for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are not included either in the table below or in official growth figures for mainland China; hence, their absence cannot account for these statistical disparities.

Notes
This is a list of the first-level administrative divisions of Mainland China (including all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities) in order of their total gross domestic product. Currency figures are given in millions. 1 USD nominally converts to 6.23 CNY according to the average 2013 exchange rate, and to 3.7603 by purchasing power parity (though prices vary from region to region within China). The Hong Kong and Macau GDP figures are given in US dollars based on purchasing power parity. Currency data is based on IMF WEO figures.[3]
For the 2013 figures, nominal GDP comparisons are given between each province and sovereign countries with similar GDPs. Equivalent countries are listed for both the current and previous year.
