Lewie Steinberg
Lewie Steinberg (born September 13, 1933, in Memphis) is an American musician best known as the original bass guitar player for soul music group Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
Steinberg was in the group from 1962 to 1965. He is featured on "Green Onions", its B-side, "Behave Yourself," and the Green Onions album. He recorded one more album with the band, Soul Dressing in 1965. Unlike the first album, every song but one on Soul Dressing was an original. About that time, Steinberg left the group and was replaced by Donald "Duck" Dunn.
Steinberg was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992[1] and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Steinberg currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee.[2]
Steinberg and members of his family were honored with a Brass Note on Beale Street's Walk of Fame, in Memphis, on November 14, 2010.[3]
