Controversies

Under the directorship of Bala Starr, LASALLE's Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (ICAS) has censored several artists. In February 2015, ICAS demanded that artist Godwin Koay not disseminate his work Content slated for destruction as part of a group show.[4] In February 2016, ICAS banned several items from artist Loo Zihan's Queer objects: An archive for the future as part of the group show "Fault-lines: Disparate and desperate intimacies". The items were a cylindrical glass dilator, a white silicone penis sheath and a black silicone butt plug.
