Football
The football program has seen fleeting success since joining the Suburban Lakes League in 1996. Lake saw five consecutive seasons without a losing record from 2000 to 2005, including two state playoff appearances in 2000 and 2001, and a league championship in 2001 under Head Coach Jim Kubuske. After suffering levy problems, that included threats of canceled seasons, a roster hurt by transfers, and a forcing non-renewal of head coach Kubuske by the School Board, Lake has seen just three winning season since 2005, including a 7-3 season in 2009 and 6-4 in 2010.
Baseball
Recent program success includes Suburban Lakes League Championships in 2001, 2002, and 2003, including a regional championship in 2001 and a regional runner-up in 2003.
2010 Tornado
On Saturday, June 5, 2010 a large portion of Lake High School was destroyed by an EF4 tornado, which killed seven in the area around Millbury, Ohio.[1][2] The tornado threw a bus onto the tennis courts and tore off the back end of the school and also hit the Lake Township police station. Graduation was to be held on Sunday, June 6 at the school. The building had been described as "completely destroyed" and "unsalvageable". One of those killed was the father of the 2010 valedictorian.[3]
