La malquerida (English title: Malquerida)[1] is a Mexican telenovela, based on the original story of Jacinto Benavente titled La Malquerida, produced by José Alberto Castro for Televisa and broadcast by Canal de las Estrellas.[2]
The cast consists of Victoria Ruffo, Ariadne Díaz, Mane de la Parra, and Christian Meier as protagonists;[3][4][5] África Zavala as co-protagonist; and Guillermo García Cantú, Alberto Estrella, Sabine Moussier, Nora Salinas, and the first actor Ignacio López Tarso in supporting roles.
Production of La Malquerida began officially on March 25, 2014.[6]
Plot
La Malquerida tells the story of Acacia Rivas, a girl whose father, Alonso, is killed in an avalanche caused intentionally by a man whom he trusted. When Acacia's mother, Cristina, finds love again after being widowed for only a year, Acacia is enraged, and after two years she decides to leave the family ranch to live with her grandparents. She returns eight years later, now a stunningly beautiful young woman, and without realizing it, she awakens in Esteban, her stepfather, a deep and passionate desire.
Acacia meets Ulysses, and the two begin a romance. Esteban begins to feel deep jealousy of their relationship and does everything he can to keep Acacia and Ulysses apart during their frequent breakups, though Acacia and Ulysses always end up getting back together. Ulysses spends time away from Acacia because of his work, and when she sees him in the company of an attractive real estate agent, she is terribly hurt. Acacia seeks comfort in Esteban and becomes increasingly confused when her childhood affection for him becomes a romantic attraction.
Esteban is unknowingly causing his marriage to become "a chain of bitterness and strife." Cristina and Acacia must face all obstacles to find true love and bring happiness and peace back to the Hacienda Benavente.
