LP Underground XIV (often known as LP Underground 14.0, LPU XIV and Linkin Park Underground XIV) is a CD and digital download set released on November 21, 2014[1] by Linkin Park Underground.[2] It is the fan club's sixth demo album, and one of the demo albums that was released per year by the LP Underground.
Overview
The CD for LP Underground XIV was released on November 21, 2014 via Machine Shop,[1] after the launch on the Linkin Park Underground official website. It was globally launched on November 14, 2014 at Berlin. It was declared at the opening of the Linkin Park Pop-up store.[3] It was officially released during the LPU Meetup in Berlin at the Hard Rock Cafe.[4]
The album contains unreleased demos spanning the entire career of Linkin Park, including the original 2002 demo of the hit single "Breaking the Habit" with Mike Shinoda (who also produced this album) on lead vocals during the recording sessions of Meteora, and a 2009 beat written by the band's turntablist Joe Hahn during the record sessions of A Thousand Suns. Other unreleased demos were recorded during the studio sessions of their previous studio albums, such as Meteora, Minutes to Midnight, and A Thousand Suns.
The album features heavy guitar sounds, such as the 2008 demo entitled "Blanka". This album mostly focuses on their "visceral" approach of The Hunting Party with the aggressive guitars and drums. For the other songs, they were denied but were later released on this album.
