Another source states the opera was premiered 4 August 1785 at the Palace of Fontainebleau in the presence of King Louis XVI of France (L'amant statue von Dalayrac). Desfontaines' libretto had previously been performed as an opéra-comique en vaudevilles (that is, without the music of Dalayrac), first at Brunoy on 23 November 1780, and then at the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Paris on 20 February 1781 (Wild & Charlton).
