L&T Technology Services, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, is an engineering services company with headquarters in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. It offers design, development and testing services for the industrial products, medical devices, transportation, aerospace, telecom and process industries. As of 2016, L&T Technology Services employs over 10,000 staff[1] in 12 delivery centres, with operations in 35 locations in several countries. The company offers specialised services for mechanical engineering, embedded systems, engineering process services, and product lifecycle management (PLM), with proprietary products for engineering data analytics, power electronics, machine-to-machine (M2M), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The CEO and Managing Director is Dr. Keshab Panda.[2]
History
The company was founded in 2009 as L&T Integrated Engineering Services (IES), a business Unit of Larsen & Toubro, by integrating the Embedded Systems, e Engineering Solutions and Global Engineering Services business units. In 2012 the Product Engineering Services Group of L&T Infotech was transferred into L&T IES.
In June 2014, L&T Technology Services purchased 74 percent of the equity capital of Thales Software India Pvt. Ltd.,[3] the Indian subsidiary of Thales, an aerospace, transportation and defence and security company. L&T Technology Services manages and oversees the management control, operations and delivery of services of the joint venture.
In November 2014 L&T Technology Services acquired the engineering services vertical of Dell Inc..[4] The American division of Dell Engineering Services was moved into L&T Technology Services' North America Offsite Delivery centre in Peoria, Illinois.
The company’s delivery centres are based in the U.S. and India. In India, L&T Technology Services has campuses in Vadodara, Bengaluru, Mysore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, with engineering centres for embedded systems, plant and mechanical engineering. In the U.S. the company has delivery centres in New Jersey, California, Illinois, Iowa and Texas as well as several sales offices in the country. The company also has European sales office in London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Munich and Milan. In Asia, it has offices in Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the UAE.
Cisco Systems and L&T Technology Services jointly launched a Global Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Centre in the L&T Technology Services campus at Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore (India) in November 2015.[5] The company’s Bangalore campus also houses the India R&D Centre for Swedish commercial vehicles manufacturer Scania AB.[6] Its Vadodara base houses a tear down facility for its mechanical group. The company’s Mysore office provides testing and development centres and labs for embedded systems. Some of its larger centres for industrial products, medical, application engineering and automotive products operate in Mysore. In 2015, L&T Technology Services became a partner in NASSCOM’s centre of excellence for Internet of Things, for start-ups created in association with the DEITY and the Government of Karnataka.[7]
