Kota is a village in Nellore District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of the Kota mandal and is known as the political hub of Nellore District. It is one of 19 villages in the Kota mandal.

Geography

Kota is located 30 km east to Chennai-Kolkata National Highway 5 (from Gudur) and 15 km away from the Bay of Bengal coast. The Sriharikota Satellite Launching Centre and the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary are each located about 40 km from Kota.[1] It has an average elevation of 8 meters (26 feet).

Transport

Kota is well connected to other parts of India by road. The nearest railway station is at Gudur, the junction of the Chennai-Vijayawada and Tirupati-Vijayawada routes.

Agriculture

The primary agricultural activities are rice and sugar cane crops, and aquaculture. The irrigation system is based on tanks and ground water. Biggest village for the Agriculture in Kota Mandal is Kothapalem and Gudali.
