Kossou is a town in central Ivory Coast. It is one of four sub-prefectures of Yamoussoukro Autonomous District. The town is named after nearby Lake Kossou.
Prior to the 2011 reorganisation of the subdivisions of Ivory Coast, Kossou was in the Yamoussoukro Department of Lacs Region.
Kossou was a commune until March 2012, when it became one of 1126 communes nationwide that were abolished.[2]
