Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) is a private university located in the city of Sulaimany in Kurdistan region. It was founded in 2009.

Values and Moral Standards The moral norm which guides conduct and performance and directs the policy at Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) is responsible freedom. Freedom is an important experience which the University provides for all of its members: faculty, students, administrators, and staff. Freedom is responsibly exercised when it is directed by ethical standards. Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) recognizes the need for the development of the whole person. It maintains a comprehensive educational program ranging from classroom instruction to research and creative activities to achieve this development. KUST provides an opportunity for students to learn to express themselves; to think critically; to gain an understanding of and respect for self and others; to understand the world, the role of science and technology, and social and cultural achievements; and to develop specialized talents for a career. This is done with a clearer understanding of the moral issues accompanying development of knowledge and skills and their application in professional life.
History
Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) - Sulaymani was established and licensed by the Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan Region Government, by the official letter no. 17867/7 on October 18, 2009. KUST is a private university governed by a Board of Trustees and run by an Administration Council. Its main campus is located in the city of Sulaymani, in Kurdistan- Iraq. KUST offered its first teaching classes in 2010 with an English language summer course (levels 1 and 3).

Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering was one of the three engineering departments formed in 2012 with the opening of Komar University of Science and Technology. Mission and Objectives
The mission of the Department of Civil Engineering at Komar University of Science and Technology is to serve to the country and the public through providing the highest quality civil engineering education using innovative delivery and interaction methods that best utilize the latest and dynamic development in information technology, to respond in a timely and efficient manner to local and regional applied research needs, and to interact with the society to provide the best quality professional service.
From the previous perspective, the Department of Civil Engineering sets the following goals and objectives to achieve its mission:
Goal 1 Establish Leadership in Civil Engineering Education in the Country and the Region, and Maintain a World Class Curriculum. Goal 2 Make the Students the Main Focus of the Department. Goal 3 Achieve a High Level of Communication with the Society and Collaboration with the Industry. Program Objectives
Petroleum Engineering Program objectives are designed to: provide graduates who will successfully practice within the Petroleum Engineering profession, yield engineers who provide leadership in the workplace and in society as role models of ethical standards and professionalism, produce knowledgeable and skilled petroleum engineers capable of pursuing academic research or the further promotion of the national oil and gas industry, create efficient communication skills that can usefully bridge between policy makers and the community, enhance critical thinking to be free from paradigms, rigid norms and hence achieve higher level of understanding of the pertinent issues.

CEP Undergraduate Program Objectives are based on ABET Program Educational for computer science and engineering Engineering Quality: Our graduates will engage in the productive practice of computer engineering to identify and solve significant problems across a broad range of application areas by using their skills and knowledge of Computer Engineering to reflect depth of understanding in their sophistication. Leadership: Our graduates will engage in successful careers in industry, academia, and public service, providing technical leadership for their business, profession and community by thinking strategically in their planning and execution. Mission
The mission of the MLS department is to provide the highest standards of education to a diverse student population. The faculty are committed to prepare competent medical laboratory scientists through providing a student-centred learning environment. The MLS program produce properly trained individuals with the necessary skills, work ethics, attitudes, and professional integrity to enter the health care community. The program also prepare students to take and pass appropriate certification exams at the international level.

Objectives
The MLS curriculum will enable the graduates to:
1. Develop competence in both theoretical knowledge and technical skills necessary for proficient performance of clinical laboratory procedures to the best of their ability. 2. Participate in laboratory experiences that will fulfil requirements in the following areas:
- Medical microbiology including bacteriology, virology, and parasitology.
- Molecular biology including molecular diagnostic techniques.
- Clinical chemistry.
- Hematology.
- Immunology.
3. Develop awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the medical laboratory scientist as a member of the health care team. The program also assists the students in developing techniques and attitudes for continuous professional development. 4.Perform professional data analysis and develop independent judgment to ensure accurate and reliable test results. 5.Design research projects to address various scientific issues related to human health.

The IT Office assumes responsibility to offer quality IT services to students, faculty and staff to serve KUST mission in teaching, research and community services. The IT team focuses on providing users the technology to expedite the teaching and learning infrastructure and aid research techniques to continuously improve on KUST competitiveness. The IT Team is committed to continuously improving on workplace ease of accessing resources and data, communication, collaboration and networking in any and all ways to promote the productivity of students, academic staff and administrators. Komar Institute KI
Komar Center for Learning Languages, Computer and Professional Development established and managed by Komar University of Science and Technology to provide and develop quality and excellent training courses for individuals, public & private organizations. Komar Research Center
Komar Research Center (KRC) was established in 2014 with the aim to organize research matters within KUST. This centre is multi-disciplinary; its primary purpose is to conduct and support research on issues concerning Kurdistan and the region. Its research activities, topics and method of research reflect KRC’s research objectives mentioned below.
KRC also organizes research activities within KUST including seminars, workshops and conferences. Since its start, KRC is active in communicating with other educational and research institutions in Kurdistan and in Iraq. Open KI Webpage
The new campus
The new campus of Komar University of Science and Technology is located at the outskirts of Sulaimany city at the north west side in Qularaisi discrete, and currently most of the parts are under construction, the entire project should be completed by end of 2016, student will start at the new campus in late January 2016 in the Business building which will be completed by end of 2015.

There are several universities that KUST has partnership with such as University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Philadelphia University (Jordan), Florida Institute of Technology, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Tallahassee Community College.
