Kokumin-fuku

The Kokumin-fuku (国民服) was the men's civil dress introduced in Japan in 1940 during World War II.[1]

Its similarity to a military uniform may have been one reason for heavy casualties among Japanese civilians when the Soviet army attacked in 1945. [2]
