Knowles (Middlesex cricketer)
Knowles (Middlesex cricketer) (dates unknown) refers to a professional cricketer who played for Middlesex in the late 18th century. Knowles often used the pseudonym "White".
There is considerable confusion about players called White at this time as Middlesex also had Jacob White and W White, who may have been brothers. Unfortunately, the scorecards of the time did not always make clear who was who and have left researchers trying to create complete records with an identification headache.
There are six matches from 1789 to 1797 in which someone called White took part but there is no way of knowing which of the three players was involved. Details are at CricketArchive record of unidentified player(s) called White.
Knowles aka White is known to have played in eight major matches from 1791 to 1797.
