Knockbreda High School (better known as Knockbreda) was a co-educational controlled secondary school situated in the outskirts of Belfast, Northern Ireland. The school was formed in 1959. On 31 August 2015, the school officially closed, having had its end of term in June 2015. It merged with Newtownbreda High School to become Breda Academy.
The school entered the formal intervention process on 20 October 2009 after a damning report that highlighted flaws in the management of the school, the standards received by pupils in external examinations and the inadequate English, Science and Technology and Design departments. An interim follow-up visit was carried out by ETI on 14 October 2010 and confirmed that the school was making satisfactory progress in addressing the key issues for improvement identified in the original inspection report.
A follow-up inspection happened in October 2011 and the school has made a slight improvement. However, overall the education provided by the school remains inadequate.
