Darren "Daz" Spencer, played by Mark Jordon, made his first screen appearance on 8 July 2014.[8] The character and Jordon's casting was announced on 5 May 2014. Jordon will begin filming later in the month.[9] Of his casting, Jordon stated "ITV Studios in Leeds has always felt like a second home and I'm really looking forward to being back there, this time with the cast and crew of Emmerdale." Daz is the brother of established character Dan Spencer (Liam Fox).[9] He is a former marine, who easily makes friends with the local residents, but his presence leaves his brother "feeling conflicted."[9] Daniel Kilkelly from Digital Spy reported that Dan would be unsettled by his brother's "wayward reputation" and that he may be jealous of his Daz's popularity in the village.[9]
Daz arrives in Emmerdale village and is immediately popular with his brother, Dan's, fiancée Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) and his son Sean (Luke Roskell). Eventually, Sean and Kerry manage to persuade Dan to allow Daz to stay with them for a while. Noticing how close Daz is getting to married barmaid Alicia Metcalfe (Natalie Anderson), Dan tries to warn Alicia's husband David (Matthew Wolfenden) that Daz will ruin their marriage. His plan fails, however, when he witnesses Daz, David and Alicia having a friendly chat in the local pub. A few days later, Daz arranges a burglary at David and Alicia's shop, which leads to Alicia being mildly attacked. Daz tries to run after the burglar, but he punches Daz in the nose, causing him to suffer a nosebleed. David and Alicia hail Daz "the hero", but Dan is suspicious about Daz's actions. He later meets up with the burglar and praises him for punching him in the face, and states that it made the burglary look more realistic and dramatic.
A few weeks later, Daz causes more trouble for Dan, after constantly flirting with Kerry and convincing Sean to go into the army. Dan and his ex-wife, Ali (Kelli Hollis), are furious that Sean has signed up for the army, and while Dan shouts at Daz for convincing Sean to sign up, Kerry defends Daz. This leads to Kerry punching Dan in the face after an argument over Daz. Kerry and Daz then go on a night out and steal a bus from Hotten. On Dan's stag night and Kerry's hen party, Daz and Kerry leave the parties early, and Daz makes a pass at Kerry, just as Dan enters. He angrily declares that the wedding is off, much to Kerry's upset. The next day, Kerry tries to win Dan round, and frantically gets dressed for their wedding. Daz, however, tries to persuade Kerry not to go through with the wedding and to go into town with him. Kerry, shocked by Daz's evil streak, angrily pushes him, and says that Dan is better than him. Daz is later seen congratulating Dan and Kerry for getting married, and is later involved in a fight in The Woolpack between Dan, Kerry and Kerry's secret husband, Kev Berry (Christopher Connel). Dan, Daz, Kerry and Kev are all arrested, and Dan tells the police that Daz stole a bus from Hotten. Daz is furious that Dan grassed him up, and an explosive argument leads to Dan throwing Daz out onto the streets. Daz then leaves the village.

I can't wait to stir things up."[16] Lawrence had an affair with Edna Birch's (Shirley Stelfox) husband, Harold, and she reported Lawrence to the police, who then sent him to prison. Edna assumed that Lawrence had died, before they came face-to-face again.[17] On 3 October, it was announced that Lawrence and his family would become the new owners of Home Farm.[16]
Lawrence had an affair with Edna's husband Harold, during a time when homosexuality was illegal. Edna found out about the affair and reported him to the police. She believed Lawrence died in prison. Christine "Chrissie" White (previously Sugden) played by Louise Marwood, made her first screen appearance on 23 October 2014. The character and casting was announced on 4 October 2014.[16]
Chrissie moves in to Home Farm with her father Lawrence (John Bowe) and teenage son Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson). Upon her arrival, she realises her fiancé Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) previously had a life in Emmerdale and has unfinished business with his family. She becomes relieved when her father Lawrence and Robert manage to get along, after Lawrence had an angina attack when Home Farm was robbed, which Chrissie and Robert were also caught up in. Chrissie begins making wedding plans and becomes unhappy when her sister Rebecca was unable to book a flight in time for the wedding.
Chrissie makes friends with David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Alicia Metcalfe (Natalie Anderson), grateful that Alicia is taking an interest in Lachlan as he has made friends with her son, Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant). She even suggests that they invest in David's shop, which David agrees to. Sadly, Lachlan's interest in Alicia is not what it should be and leads to Lachlan sexually assaulting Alicia. Chrissie initially believes Lachlan's version of events but, on finding a video on his laptop and his past history, later realises that Alicia is telling the truth. She then calls the police herself, insisting to Lachlan and her father that Lachlan must take responsibility for his actions.
Chrissie later discovers that Robert organised the robbery at Home Farm, so locks him in a barn and threatens to set fire to it. After pouring petrol everywhere, it is revealed only to be water as she wanted to scare him like he frightened her and Lawrence. Chrissie shares a passionate kiss with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) at the garage, which Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) photographs after being hired by Robert to spy on Cain. Robert continually blackmails Cain with the photographs, and expresses his disgust towards Chrissie, revealing to Lawrence what she has done with Cain. Eventually, Cain kidnaps Robert and tortures him until he agrees to get rid of the photographs. However, Cain's wife, Moira, (Natalie J. Robb), finds out and slaps Chrissie in front of Cain and Robert for kissing her husband.
She soon discovers that Robert has been having an affair with Aaron Livesy (Danny Miller) and throws him out. Chrissie repeatedly attempts to get Robert to sign the divorce papers, but he refuses, so Chrissie eventually snaps and pours petrol over Robert's car. In her furious rage, she eventually commits arson by setting fire to it. Robert puts out the flames with an extinguisher, but they are soon reignited when they touch some gas canisters that are placed near a car that Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) is sleeping in. They explode, sending a can flying into the air and hitting a helicopter that is flying above, which was the one that Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan) had booked as a surprise for his now-wife Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) to have a romantic ride away on. The helicopter crashes into the village hall, leaving several villagers' lives on the line, eventually resulting in the deaths of Ruby Haswell (Alicya Eyo) and Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick). Chrissie is left devastated over the whole situation and informs the mourners and the police of her guilt. She then goes to stay with Rebecca.
Chrissie returns some weeks later and pleads guilty to arson. However, she pleads not guilty to reckless arson. Val's furious husband Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) is desperate for justice and holds Chrissie hostage in Home Farm with a cricket bat. Robert later arrives and convinces Eric to leave. Chrissie is later arrested for the attempted murder of Robert after he is shot, however she is not charged and Lawrence tells the police it was him who shot Robert to protect Chrissie. She later develops feelings for her solicitor Rakesh Kotecha (Pasha Bocarie) as he helps her when she and Lawrence are arrested for shooting Robert. Chrissie makes a pass at him, but he rejects her advances due to his engagement to Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade).
Chrissie is happy to hear that Lawrence and Bernice are engaged. However, on the night before the wedding, Chrissie sees Bernice kissing her ex, Andy. Chrissie tells Lawrence but he marries Bernice anyway, much to Chrissie's disgust. Bernice is devastated upon finding out that her mother Diane has been stabbed. Chrissie supports her and puts their differences behind them. Chrissie stands trial for the helicopter crash. She is convinced that Robert is going to testify against her and is surprised when he testifies for her. She finds out that he did this because Lachlan made him realise that it was the right thing to do. She is grateful and thanks Robert. Chrissie is relieved to be found not guilty and she receives a suspended sentence. Eric is appauled at this and throws a paintball at her in the court room, leading to his arrest. After Priya ends her relationship with Rakesh, he gets drunk and tries to kiss Chrissie. However, she rejects his advances.

Lachlan White, played by Thomas Atkinson, made his first screen appearance on 10 November 2014. The character and casting was announced on 4 October 2014.[16] Lachlan is Chrissie White's (Louise Marwood) son and he was described as being a "troubled 14-year-old".[16]
Lachlan befriends Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), but her strange behaviour causes others to think Lachlan has been harassing her. Lachlan photographs Belle and realises that something is wrong with her. He helps her realize that she needs help, as do her family. Lachlan also makes friends with Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and spends time with him at his house. Jacob's mother, Alicia (Natalie Anderson), takes an interest in him as she can see he is a bit different. Chrissie is grateful for this but it soon becomes clear that Lachlan's interest in Alicia is inappropriate as shown when Chrissie finds that Lachlan has a lot of photos of Alicia. He claims that this is because he is helping Jacob make a photo book, which is true, and Jacob gives it to his mother as a present.
Lachlan later buys Alicia an expensive handbag as a Valentine's present, making her husband, David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden), wonder where it came from until Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) tells him that she saw Lachlan with it. David tells Alicia and she returns it, letting him down gently, but Lachlan ignores it and David's warning to keep his distance. Believing Alicia returns his feelings, he assaults her but distraught, Alicia throws him out of the house and calls the police. He initially tells the police that their relationship was consensual, leading her to be questioned about this. Chrissie initially believes him but later finds evidence that he is lying and on hearing Alicia's version of events, calls the police herself. She tells him and her father that Lachlan must take responsibility for what he has done.
After finishing his counselling, Lachlan begins suffering abuse from other students. He starts to blame Chrissie for ruining his reputation. Chrissie decides to get in contact with his father Donny in order to get through to him. Donny suggests to Lachlan that he'd live with him to which Lachlan agrees. The next morning, Chrissie and Lawrence tell Lachlan that Donny had left to go abroad, when in fact he had been beaten up by loan sharks. After nearly being beaten up from other students and was saved by Alicia, Lachlan finally showed remorse and apologized to Alicia. A few weeks later, Lachlan goes to stay with Rebecca for a few weeks. He returns, aware of Robert's cheating, and becomes resentful towards him. After Chrissie is arrested for causing the helicopter crash, Lachlan becomes determined to kill Robert and gets a gun from the safe. Lachlan walks with a gun around the village and is informed by Rakesh. That evening, Robert is shot and falls into a coma. After Lawrence confesses to attempted murder, Chrissie arranges Lachlan return to Rebecca for a few months.

Juliette returns again in February 2016 when she is expected to take Carl back to live with her, but still in an unstable mindset, requests Jimmy and Nicola continue to look after Carl. They are delighted with this and discuss having Jimmy and Nicola as the legal guardians of Carl. |
7 October–3 November, 13 January 2016− | Carl | Uncredited | Carl is Juliette and Jimmy King's son.[25] He was conceived after Juliette was given Jimmy's sperm by mistake at the sperm bank. Carl returned in January 2016 when his mother brings him to the village. When Juliette admits that she is struggling since her husband left her, Jimmy offers to look after Carl, despite having recently taken in his son, Elliot Windsor (Luca Hoyle), to live with him and his wife, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). Nicola is shocked when she discovers Carl will be living with them as well as Elliot. The following month, Juliette returns for Carl, but they decide that Carl should begin living with Jimmy and Nicola regularly, with them as his legal guardians. |
