22nd Battalion[1] also known as Kharkiv Battalion[2][3][4] is a Territorial Defense Battalion of Ukraine The battalion is subordinated to the Ministry of Defense.[5]
History
The formation was established in April 2014 in Kharkiv during the 2014 pro-Russian conflict in Ukraine.[6]
The battalion is based in Svatove.[7]
Special police unit Kharkiv
During autumn 2015 the special police unit battalion's Kharkiv-1, Kharkiv-2 and Slobozhanshchyna merged into police battalion "Kharkiv".[8] They have been involved in maintaining public order and guarding strategically important facilities in Mariupol.[9]
