The fourteenth legislative assembly election will be held in 2016 to elect members of the 140 constituencies in Kerala. [1]
Background
The tenure of Kerala assembly ends in May 31, 2016.[2]
Around 2.56 crore are eligible voters Kerala Legislative Assembly election 2016 as per voters List on 14 January 2016. 6.18 lakh new voters in the age group 18-21 have been included. Elections to the 140-member assembly would be held in 21,498 polling stations. There will be 500 model polling stations.[3] 17 assembly constituencies in Kerala will have Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs. Election Commission will be relying on IT through several new apps.[4]
The election date will be declared at end of February 2016. Most probably election will be held April 2016.

The Scheduled Caste (SC) population of Kerala State is 3,123,941 which is 9.8% of overall population. Scheduled Tribes in Kerala with a population of 3.64 lakh constitute 1.14% of the population of state.
As per 2011 census, Hinduism is the major religion in Kerala with 54.73%. [12]
