Kenyan gubernatorial elections, 2013

The 2013 Kenya gubernatorial elections were held on 4 March 2013,[1] Under the new constitution, which was passed during the 2010 referendum, the 2013 general election was the first to elect County Governors and their Deputies for the 47 newly created counties. They were also the first general elections run by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

University Degrees

Kenyan law requires governors to have a recognized university degree. This clause resulted in challenges for notable aspirants Soita Shitanda in the Kakamenga contest and Margaret Wanjiru in the Nairobi contest [2]
