Kenmore Appliances is a brand of household appliances sold by Sears since 1913 (a sewing machine).[2]
The products are currently produced by manufacturers such as Whirlpool, GE, Panasonic, Sanyo, LG, Bosch, Electrolux, and Mabe Mexico. The brand is controlled by Sears Holdings, and owned by KCD IP, LLC, a special purpose entity created by Sears Holdings for securitization purposes. The name "KCD IP" is an abbreviation for Kenmore Craftsman DieHard intellectual property.[1] Today the brand is sold at all Sears Holdings stores, including Sears and, since 2005, at Kmart. The first Kenmore branded product was a washing machine introduced in 1927.[3] The first Kenmore vacuum cleaners were introduced in 1932. Kenmore's upscale line of appliances is known as the Elite line. Kenmore also has a professional line of appliances called Kenmore Pro. In 1976, Sears expanded the Kenmore name to its line of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers, which were previously branded as Coldspot.
On March 12, 2010, the Kenmore brand launched its first interactive "Kenmore Live Studio" in Chicago. The entire “Kenmore Live Studio” is equipped with cameras that broadcast video via the Internet, so studio visitors, chef demonstrations, and presentations and unveilings of new products are shared in real time with those following the Kenmore brand via its social media page on Facebook.[4] Unlike a traditional Sears store, the "Kenmore Live Studio" specifically promotes Kenmore products only.
