Katherine Joy Putnam, (born December 9, 1986) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Oak Grove, Louisiana who was named Miss Louisiana 2009.[1][2]

Biography

She won the title of Miss Louisiana on June 20, 2009, when she received her crown from outgoing titleholder Blair Abene.[3] Her competition talent was a piano performance of the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.[4] Putnam's mother is originally from Shillong, India, making Putnam the first major Indian American beauty pageant winner.[5] Putnam is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, with a degree in music performance.[4]
