Kate Kelton (born June 20, 1978) is a Canadian artist, model and actress, notable for appearing as the "Tic Tac girl" in television advertisements for Tic Tac mints for almost a decade throughout Canada, Australia, South Africa and Israel.[1] She is probably best known for her recurring role on Syfy's Haven as Jordan McKee from 2012 to 2013, appearing in 14 episodes.
Kelton was born in Bamberg, Germany. Her Czech parents had escaped to Germany where she was born in the south. Her mom is an artist and her adopted father an architect. She is the great-granddaughter of Czech starchitect, Josef Fanta. Settling in Toronto when she was seven, she attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts and received a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Film at Ryerson University in 1998. She began her career as an artist before moving into the genre of acting. She is a former model.[2]
She first discovered acting during her final year of film school. She had her big-screen debut during the Toronto International Film Festival in The Republic of Love (2000), which was directed by Deepa Mehta. Her film credits include Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and American Psycho II: All American Girl. She has also appeared in numerous music videos including Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me", Jet Set Satellite's "Baby Cool Your Jets" and "Abused" by Jason Englishman.[3]
Kate has appeared in several indie films and TV guest spots including Detention which starred Josh Hutchinson, and Devin Zimmerman’s Growth. On July 16, 2012 she appeared in the music video "Love All Humans" alongside musician/composer Gingger Shankar, guitarist Anthony Gallo, model Tara Bre and others. Her artwork is exhibited internationally. She is a contributing author to Making It in High Heels: Inspiring Stories by Women for Women of All Ages.[2]
