Karrueche Tran (born May 17, 1988) is an American actress and model .
Early life
Tran was born May 17, 1988 in Los Angeles, CA.[3] Her mother, Cindy Adamson is Vietnamese and her father, DeVon Minters is Jamaican. Tran first attended high school at Fairfax High School before her family moved to The San Fernando Valley. Tran graduated from Birmingham High School in 2006.[4] From 2006-2008 Tran attended Pierce College where she majored in Graphic Design.
Career
Tran began her career in the fashion industry as a personal shopper. From 2009-2012 she worked at Nordstrom located at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park, CA. After her spell in retail, Tran worked as free-lance celebrity stylist in Hollywood. She first gained fame when she began dating former boyfriend, R&B artist Chris Brown.[5] She posed as the face of Lady Crooks, the women's division under the streetwear brand Crooks and Castles for their Summer 2013 collection.[6] Tran was also featured in the Spring/Summer 2015 lookbook for Korean-based athletic brand Le Coq Sportif.[7]
Tran has also appeared on the covers of Rolling Out,[8] Flaunt Magazine,[9] Ouch Magazine, The Hundreds,[10] Cliche Magazine, Bleu Magazine[11] and Annex Magazine. In June 2015 Tran had two feature stories on ELLE.com.[12][13]
Tran is also featured in volume one of the photography book, Love West Coast Girls by celebrity photographer Mike Miller.[14]
Tran currently co-stars as Vivian Johnson in the Emmy award-winning web series The Bay The Series. She also appeared in the TV One movie The Fright Nite Files (2014) and 3 Headed Shark Attack in the Summer of 2015.[15] Tran has also gained recognition for her performance as Vanessa Ivy in the fashion web series by StyleHaul titled “Vanity” which is sponsored by the makeup brand Maybelline.[16] In 2014, Tran hosted the BET Awards red carpet and multiple events during the official BET Weekend. Previously she co-hosted the BET show 106 & Park.
Tran is currently signed to Wilhelmina Models LA[1] and is managed by Jacob York[17] of Electric Republic.[2]
Personal life
Karruche Tran is primarily known for her on-again, off-again relationship with R&B artist Chris Brown. The couple briefly broke up when Brown reconciled with his ex-girlfriend, Barbadian singer and songwriter Rihanna. After their relationship ended, Brown and Tran got back together as a couple. Tran broke up with him after discovering he had fathered a child with former model Nia Guzman while they were together.[18] In June 2015, Tran was involved in a confrontation with Chris Brown outside the Hollywood Playhouse nightclub.[19][20]
