Kanchikacherla is a village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is about 35 km from the city of Vijayawada on National Highway 9.

Government and politics

Kanchikacherla under Kanchikacherla mandal is represented by Nandigama (SC) (Assembly constituency), which in turn represents Vijayawada (Lok Sabha constituency) of Andhra Pradesh.[1] The present MLA representing Nandigama (SC) (Assembly constituency) is Tangirala Sowmya of Telugu Desam Party.[2][3]

Transport

The town has an APSRTC bus station, with many buses connecting to the nearby villages and towns. Bus is the major means of transportation for resident movement to other towns and villages. Buses are being replaced by automobiles. Due to the drastic increase in the number of automobiles providing transportation services to nearby villages, APSRTC cut down its bus services. Bicycles are primarily used for internal transportation. Recently, scooters and motorcycles are rapidly replacing the bicycle.

The town's development is attributed largely to its location on the highway and has a linear settlement pattern. Other towns in the vicinity of Kanchikacherla are Nandigama, Ibrahimpatnam and the city Vijayawada.

Education

Kanchikacherla has several schools and colleges. Some of the notable high schools are Zilla Parishad, Vijaya Rani English Medium School, Gowthami Public school, MNR, St. Mary's school etc., and Junior colleges include SGS Govt. Jr College, Immaculate, Sidhartha junior college etc., with some Degree colleges such as Immaculate Degree College, Sidhatha degree college, Gowtham degree college etc.,. There are also Engineering colleges such as Devineni Venkàtà Ramana & Dr.Hima Shekar MIC College of Engineering , MVR College of Engineering , Amrita Sai Institute Of Science & Technology: etc.
