Kanavan (English: The Husband), is a 1968 Indian Tamil directed by Pa.Neelakandhan, starring M. G. Ramachandran in the lead role and Jayalalitha with C. R. Vijayakumari, S. A. Asokan, Cho among others.

Plot

To inherit, Rani (Jayalalidha) a charming birdbrain has to marry in the urgency.

She chooses a person sentenced to death, nice Vélaiya (MGR).

Acquitted at the last minute, Vélaiya comes to settle down at its beautiful Rani.

He is decided well to him given a lesson onto the hardness of the life...

The " Puraitchy Nadhigar " MGR which is the author of the story of KANAVAN, was inspired by two narratives – the Russian novel Woodcutter and the English play The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.
