KSME is a commercial radio station licensed to Greeley, Colorado, broadcasting to the Northern Colorado area on 96.1 FM. KSME airs a music Top 40 (CHR) format branded as "Kiss-FM".
History
KSME-FM launched as "96.1 KISS FM," a Top 40 radio station October 7, 2000. Its studios were then located on Laporte Avenue in Northwest Fort Collins. The station launched under the call letters KGLL-FM, a holdover from the frequency's previous country format when it was "96.1 The Eagle." Syndicated Rick Dees in the Morning, from KIIS-FM Los Angeles, was the station's first morning show until the product was discontinued in 2002. At that point, local personality and Program Director Chris Kelly anchored the morning show seat with a varying cast of characters for several years until moving to afternoons and welcoming syndicated Johnjay and Rich to the morning slot in November, 2008. Johnjay and Rich are based out of KZZP Phoenix, AZ.
The station was the Colorado Broadcaster Association's Major Market Radio Station of the Year in 2004, 2011, 2012 and 2013 along with numerous other awards over the years.
The station's studio is located in Loveland, CO at Crossroads Blvd. and I-25. It is currently branded as "Colorado's Number One Hit Music Station."
Community involvement
KSME-FM is dedicated to numerous efforts in the community it serves, in addition to executing its own "Kissmas Wishes" campaign each December. Non-Profit organizations submit "wish lists" to the station consisting of items they need to collect to provide to individuals and families they serve. The station staff then camps out at a local shopping mall, broadcasting live around the clock and collecting varying items for the nearly 40 different non-profit agencies that submit lists. The items are then sorted and delivered to the agencies.
