History
Košarkarski Klub Plama Pur (English: Plama Pur Basketball Club), commonly referred to as KK Plama Pur or simply Plama Pur, is a basketball team based in Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia. The club was founded in 1956 as a basketball section of TVD Partizan Ilirska Bistrica. It was renamed to KK Lesonit in 1962. KK Lesonit managed to win First Slovenian Republic League in 1964 and qualify to Yugoslav First Federal Basketball League. In season 1965 of Yugoslav First Federal Basketball League, KK Lesonit managed to win only once, against KK Rabotnički Skopje, finishing season in last place with 1 win and 21 loses in 22 games. After being relegated from Yugoslav First Federal Basketball League, KK Lesonit played another three seasons in Yugoslav Second Federal Basketball League before being relegated back to First Slovenian Republic League in 1969. The club ceased to operate in the eighties, when basketball moved to indoor arenas and Ilirska Bistrica did not have the adequate facilities. It was refounded in 1996 and is now named KK Plama Pur Ilirska Bistrica for sponsorship reasons. The club competed in 3.SKL-West league until 2013, when it was promoted to Slovenian Second Basketball League. In 2013/2014 Slovenian Second Basketball League season KK Plama Pur finished 2nd, qualifying for playoffs to Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. KK Plama Pur finished playoffs last with score 0-4, concluding two loses against KK Šentjur and KK Elektra Šoštanj respectively. In 2014/2015 season, KK Plama Pur finished 7nd, barely escapeing relegation playoffs with last round win over KK Celje, which send KK Celje into Slovenian Second Basketball League relegation playoffs. Before the start of 2015/2016 Slovenian Second Basketball League season, Martin Novak resigned after 5 years as head coach. He was replaced by Grega Nachbar, younger brother of basketball player Boštjan Nachbar. After 8 games into 2015/2016 season KK Plama Pur are in 2nd position with 6 wins and 2 loses.
