KBZN
KBZN (Now 97.9 FM) is a Hot Adult Contemporary music formatted radio station broadcasting to the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The station is owned by Capital Broadcasting.[1][2] The station's studios are located at the 257 Tower building in downtown Salt Lake City and its transmitter site is located southwest of the city on Farnsworth Peak in the Oquirrh Mountains.
History
During the early 1980s the call letters were KZAN with a country format. The station then became known as KKGB, beginning 1988. In 1989, the station changed its call sign to KKWY, a Top 40 station. In late 1989, the license was purchased by local Capital Broadcasting, becoming KBZN ("The Breeze") with a Smooth Jazz format. In 2009, KBZN made the format switch to Hot AC and the "Now 97.9" moniker.[3]
