Kāmoki (Urdu: كاموكى), is a city of Gujranwala District located in Punjab, Pakistan, it has a population of 167,300.[1] The city is the capital of Kamoke Tehsil which is an administrative subdivision of the district, the city is itself subdivided into 8 Union Councils.[2] The city is located on the Grand Trunk Road 21 km from Gujranwala and 44 km from Lahore.

Administration

Kamonki is administered by Town Municipal Administration under City District Government Gujranwala. It has Tehsil Civil Courts, its own circle of police, and a tehsil headquarters hospital.

Kamoke has many leading educational institutes like Govt. post graduate college for girls, Govt. degree college for Boys,Govt. Commerce Instt., Govt. Vocational training instt. for girls, Punjab Group of colleges, The Educators, United College, Webster college, Sheraz Pilot School serving since 1973 (principal: Khalid Mehmood Alvi) New Science Foundation High School (NSFHS), (pre school to Metric. principal: Sidra Bilal D/O Muhammad Bilal Ashraf, Rills (Pre school to O Level) only school affiliated with Cambridge International Examinations, The School Kamoke (Principal Muhammad Shehbaz Noshahi 03333330096), Knowledge Paradise School System (Principal CH. Entertainment

A Cinema by the name of "New Gulistan" is operational though at one point in the past Kamonki had six. A Municipal Stadium and a Park are situated in the city.

Communication

Kamonki is situated on GT Road (N5) and on Pak's main railway line. A highway connects Kamonki to Sialkot via Eminabad and is very busy highway. Another goes to Nowshehra Virkan via Tatlay Aali and another goes to Qila Didar Singh. A smal road connects Kamonki with near by village of Harrar which is an important link of Kamonki with Nangal Dona SIngh and Wando.

Trade and Industry

Kamonki's ghalla mandi is busiest and famous regarding rice trade and the city is known as city of rice. There are many rice shellers and other industries.
