The Jurong railway station was a freight railway station co-owned by JTC Corporation, Singapore's primary industrial developer and Keretapi Tanah Melayu, the Malaysian railway operator.

History

When the Government of Singapore selected Jurong to be Singapore's next port and industrial estate, they realized that Jurong lacked good, smooth roads. Instead they made an agreement with Malaysia to extend their railways toward the then-new industrial estate. Construction of the Jurong station and the Jurong Line started in 1963 and was opened in 1965 amid much fanfare despite the rail line was not for passenger services, but however when politic and diplomatic relations strained between Singapore and Malaysia, and much further with more roads to Jurong Port and Jurong Island, freight services to Jurong were terminated in early 1993 with the station building demolished immediately after.

Remnants

Originally the destination signboard along with the pulled out and buried rails were the only remnants left of the Jurong station, however the rails were dug out by KTM in 2005 and by 2012 the station's signboard was the next remnant to have vanished from the station area.
