Juan Manuel Bayá (1800-1861) was an stockbroker of Buenos Aires city in times of Juan Manuel de Rosas.[1]
Biography
Juan Bautista Manuel Bayá was baptized in Metropolitan Cathedral on May 17, 1800, their parents were Juan Bayá born in Catalonia and María Eugenia Canaveris (criolla).[2] When his parents died Bayá was raised in the house of his maternal grandparents don Juan Canaveris and Catalina Esparza. In his youth Bayá had been a personal friend of Rosas and his sister doña Manuela Rosas.[3] In 1822 Bayá presents an appeal to the Honorable Junta to manage their property.[4]
As Trade Commissioner Juan Manuel Bayá had visited almost all major European cities.[5] including Paris and London.[6]
