Olympic history
Summer Games

Jordan first participated at the Olympic Games in 1980, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then. The nation has never participated in the Winter Olympic Games.

As of 2011, no Jordanian athlete has won an official Olympic medal. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, two Jordanian athletes won bronze medals in taekwondo: Samer Kamal and Ihsan Abu Sheikha. However, these are not official Olympic medals as taekwondo at Seoul was a demonstration sport; it would not become an official Olympic sport until 2000.

The National Olympic Committee for Jordan was created in 1957 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1963.

The Jordan Olympic Committee is now headed by HRH Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein.
