Career
Edwards was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 14th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft out of Keller High School in Keller, Texas, as an outfielder. He played in the Cardinals organization until 2010, without appearing in an MLB game.[1] He spent the 2011 season playing independent baseball for the San Angelo Colts and Alpine Cowboys. He signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers in 2012 and converted to a pitcher.[2]
Edwards was called up to the majors for the first time on August 15, 2014.[3] In August 2015 he was traded from the Rangers to the San Diego Padres for Will Venable.[4]
