John Romaniello is an American entrepreneur, angel investor, bestselling author, strength coach, and model.[1][2][3] He recently authored Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life, which debuted at #4 on the New York Times bestseller list.
Career
In 2002, John Romaniello (aka "Roman"), founded Roman Fitness Systems, a personal training company operating in the New York City area, as well as on Long Island. Later that year, Romaniello began an analogous career as a fitness writer; his first fitness article was published on the bodybuilding website T-Nation on December 19, 2002.[4] Since that time, Roman's fat loss programs have become a staple in the online fitness community.[5][6] His methodology primarily revolves around hormone manipulation via periodized resistance training, used alongside somato-type diet plans, with a focus on intermittent fasting and carb-cycling.[2]
Romaniello is also a fitness advisor for Livestrong.com, a member of the Onnit Pro Team, the head of Arnold Schwarzenegger's fitness advisory board, Gary Vaynerchuk's personal trainer, a blogger for the Huffington Post and AskMen, and a monthly columnist for Men's Fitness.[7][8][9][10][11]
Author
Romaniello is the author of several ebooks and digital training programs, such as Final Phase Fat Loss[12], Final Phase Fat Loss: Bodyweight Edition[13], and Final Phase Abs.[14] Several of Roman's programs are "themed", and include The Zombie Apocalypse Survival Workout,[15] and several Super Hero-themed programs,[16][17] including the Super Hero Workout and Super Hero Fat Loss. The latter two are co-authored with personal trainer-turned-actor Matt McGorry.[18]
In Final Phase family of programs, Romaniello suggests hormone manipulation techniques as a way to rapidly increase fat loss.[19] His first traditionally published book Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life, was released in April 2013, and debuted at #4 on the New York Times Bestseller list.[20][21]
Engineering the Alpha
Romaniello's first book, Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life, was released on April 16, 2013. The book details how men can live better by naturally controlling their hormones to build muscle, burn fat and improve their sex lives. Romaniello and his co-author, Adam Bornstein, tie the process of becoming an Alpha to the Hero's Journey (or Monomyth), a storytelling framework most frequently associated with Joseph Campbell, who Romaniello has cited as one of his major influences in writing. The book also features former clients of Romaniello and Bornstein who have transformed their bodies and lives utilizing the methodologies related to nutrition, training and supplementation detailed in the book.
Reception
Romaniello's writing, modelling, and fitness systems have been featured in Good Morning America, Men's Health, Men's Fitness, Huffington Post, ABC Health, and Yahoo! Health.[1][22] [23][24][25][26] Romaniello has also been included in Greatist's "Top 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness" and "15 Must-Read Trainers" lists.[27][28] Greatist also named him on "Must-Follow Health and Fitness Twitter Accounts" list for 2011 and 2012, and Huffington Post named him one of the 20 best fitness experts worth following on Twitter.[29][30][31] His first traditionally published book, Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha: A Real World Guide to an Unreal Life, debuted at #4 on the New York Times bestseller list.[32]
