John P. McNichols

Fr. John P. McNichols, S.J. was the president of University of Detroit, and the namesake of McNichols Rd. in Detroit, MI. Fr. McNichols move U of D from the Jefferson Campus to the current McNichols Campus named after himself. Fr. McNichols bought the 42 acres that would become the McNichols Campus in 1921 for 120,000. McNichols also moved the University of Detroit Jesuit High School from Jefferson to Seven Mile.[1] McNichols also founded the Jesuit parish of Gesu Church in 1922, in Detroit.
