John J. Jones (general)

John J. Jones was a Brigadier General in the Union Army.

Biography

Jones was born on Christmas of 1828. A Welsh migrant, he settled in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.[1] His father was a minister of the Calvinist Methodist Church.[2] Jones died on February 13, 1868.

Career

Jones joined the 46th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment in 1861. He took part in the Battle of Shiloh and the Siege of Corinth of the American Civil War.
