John Herron (November 15, 1853 – August 20, 1936) was a politician from Western Canada.
Political career
Born in Ashton, Carleton County, Canada West, Herron was first elected to the Alberta (Provisional District) in the 1904 Canadian federal election in a hotly contested election defeating Malcolm McKenzie by less than 100 votes.
Herron would run in the new Macleod electoral district after the creation of the province of Alberta in the 1908 Canadian federal election. He retained his seat in parliament to win a second term.
In the 1911 Canadian federal election he was defeated by David Warnock from the Liberal Party of Canada.
Herron tried to regain his seat again in 1925 Canadian federal election. He ran in a hotly contested three way race against George Coote and former Alberta MLA Thomas Milnes. Herron finished a very close second behind Coote.[1]
A year later when Parliament was dissolved Herron tried again to regain a seat in the 1926 federal election. but was once again defeated.
