John FitzGerald, 4th Earl of Desmond (died 1398) was the son of Gerald FitzGerald, 3rd Earl of Desmond.[1][2] He married and had one son, Thomas, who succeeded him as Earl of Desmond.[1][2]

Alfred Webb states of the 4th Earl of Desmond: "In 1398 he disappeared, and is fabled to live beneath the waters of Lough Gur, near Kilmallock, on whose banks he appears once every seven years."[3]
