Joseph Lavin (born July 17, 1989) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the American Hockey League (AHL). He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 5th round (126th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
On April 11, 2011 the Chicago Blackhawks signed Lavin to a two-year entry level contract.[1] He played exclusively with the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
On July 15, 2013, after he was released from the Blackhawks as a free agent, Lavin was signed to a one-year AHL contract with the Springfield Falcons.[2] On February 7, 2014, unable to make the Falcons roster and playing with ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen, Lavin was traded by Springfield to the Providence Bruins for future considerations.
