Jobandtalent is a job matching platform based out of London and Madrid.[2][3] The website matches professionals with relevant job opportunities using a unique algorithm.[4] The company was founded in 2009 by two young entrepreneurs, Felipe Navio and Juan Urdiales.[5] The website has over 10 million registered users[6] and hosts over 2 million job vacancies on the site in the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States and South America. There are currently more than 50.000 global companies active on jobandtalent including Accenture, Morgan Stanley, Ericsson, L´Oréal, Vodafone, Heineken, Linklaters and Deloitte.[5]
History
Founding
Felipe Navio and Juan Urdiales started Jobandtalent with the goal of making the job search easier for professionals.[5] Urdiales previously co-founded a national award winning textile enterprise called Pluscuamperfecta.[5] Navio worked at consulting firm McKinsey and as an advisor for social networking site Tuenti.
Navio and Urdiales recognized that although professionals were interested in new job opportunities they were staying in positions simply because they did not have time to search the millions of jobs posted online. Since launching jobandtalent in 2009 the company has worked on several approaches to this problem – from career guides to taking advantage of the social connections – before implementing the job matching technology currently used on the site today.[7]
Expansion
In October 2011, Jobandtalent opened a new office in Barcelona with Albert Climent as founder of Catalonian Office, Previously Albert Climent helps on the foundation of Zyncro another successful Start Up based Barcelona as a Sales Director.[8]
In January 2012, Jobandtalent opened an office in London, its first international expansion.[5][9]
On 22 July 2013 Jobandtalent announced they had completed their round of funding, raising $3.3 million.[7] In July 2014, Jobandtalent also closed a $14 million Series A funding round.[10] Thanks to this investment, the biggest in Spain, Jobandtalent is now able to consolidate their growth in Europe and Latin America. Among their investors, we should highlight Qualitas Equity Partners, Kibo Ventures, Fundación José Manuel Entrecanales, and Business Angels Pelayo Cortina Koplowiz, Nicolás Luca de Tena and Alfonso Villanueva.[11]
In that month, Felix Ruiz, co-founder of Tuenti, was appointed Executive Chairman of Jobandtalent.[12] Ruiz began his relationship with jobandtalent as stakeholder two years ago since he felt attracted to the project, to the unlimited market and to the possibilities of Jobandtalent. Now he is fully committed to work towards the growth of Jobandtalent as the leading job board in Spain.[13]
In May 2015, Jobandtalent secured a $25 million funding as an extension of its Series A investment, which was closed back in July 2014. Investor group lead by Pelayo Cortina Koplowitz, CEO of the one investment holding of a family with over $4Bn wealth, has increased its participation and has co-invested with the previous investors Qualitas Equity Partners, Kibo Ventures, Fundación José Manuel Entrecanales, and business angel Nicolás Luca de Tena, who recently exited La Nevera Roja. That same year, Jobandtalent opened offices both in Mexico and Colombia.

How it Works
Getting Started
Users can sign up to Jobandtalent using their email address or via Facebook. To complete a profile users can either upload their CV, import a LinkedIn profile or manually enter professional information. Once a user’s professional information is registered, Jobandtalent´s matching algorithm identifies vacancies that match a user´s professional experience and preferences. When a job match is made, users are instantly notified via message and can then apply. Users who sign up with Facebook can see where they have 1st and 2nd degree connections at a company they may be interested in applying to as well as obtain referrals and other relevant information from social contacts.
Algorithm
To match candidates with relevant vacancies, Jobandtalent uses an innovative algorithm developed by a team of Data Scientists and Engineers. This technology combines different algorithms that interact in a learning to rank function, also introducing machine learning techniques to fine tune the matchings. Our algorithm learns from the users and their interaction with the platform. We measures the effectiveness of our technology with a self-created industry performance metric: ATR (Application Through Rate), that measures the rate of applications that the algorithm generates per job view.
Our algorithm acts like a virtual recruitment consultant that analyses hundreds of thousands of jobs and suggests suitable vacancies taking into consideration our candidates’ preferences and professional profiles. Jobandtalent is, in essence like an online headhunter.[4] jobandtalent is, in essence like an online headhunter.
Rankings
Since 2010, Jobandtalent has performed an annual study which ranks companies based on where young employees want to work most. Deloitte, PwC, and Accenture were the top 3 companies for 2012.[21] The data includes overall rankings and rankings based on geography, gender, sector, and specialty.[22]
Privacy
For the candidates who sign-up using Facebook, absolutely no private photographs or personal (protected) information such as status updates or job searching activity is accessible.[5] Employers are only allowed access to a candidate's professional profile.[23] However, there have been reports concerning the email invitations sent on the behalf of new users [24]
