Jin Air Co. Ltd (Hangul: 진에어; RR: Jin E-eo) is a low cost airline originating from South Korea, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Korean Air.

History

Jin Air began operations in July 2008 with routes to regional destinations in Korea. In October 2009, Jin Air began flights to Macau, Guam and Bangkok.[2] The name "Jin Air" was officially announced on June 15, 2008 at an opening ceremony in Seoul.[3] It has its headquarters in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.[4] The inaugural flight was between Seoul's Gimpo International Airport and Jeju International Airport on July 17, 2008 using a Boeing 737-800.

Fleet

Jin Air Boeing 737-800

Jin Air started its operation with 4 Boeing 737-800s from Korean Air, seating 189 passengers in a 1-class arrangement.[10] It planned to expand its fleet to 2 A300-600Rs by April 2009, but this was canceled. In 2014, the Boeing 777-200ER was introduced as well, with one used aircraft being transferred from Korean Air in December.[11]

Accidents and Incidents

So far there is only 1 incident and not an accident

January 5,2016- The flight was departing from Cebu, Philippines to Busan, South Korea. On board are 163 passengers.Flight attendants heard whistling sounds and found out that the door wasn't properly sealed so the plane returned back to the airport about half an hour. The aircraft returned to Busan after 15 hours. Passengers complained of head and ear ache.
