James A. Eliopulos (born April 18, 1959) is a former American football linebacker who played professionally in the National Football League for the New York Jets.
Early years
Eliopulos attended Cheyenne Central High School. He played for Westminster College, before transferring to the University of Wyoming after his sophomore season. In 1981, he registered a then school record 10 sacks in a season and received All-WAC honors.[1]
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
Eliopulos was drafted in the third round (81st overall) of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. As a rookie he was placed on the injured reserve list on September 6, 1982.[2] He was released on August 22, 1983.[3]
St. Louis Cardinals
He was claimed by the St. Louis Cardinals, but was released after playing in 4 games.[4]
New York Jets
In 1983, he signed with the New York Jets as a free agent. He was released on September 2, 1985.[5]
Toronto Argonauts (CFL)
Eliopulos played with the Toronto Argonauts in 1987.
